“Exploring Machu Picchu: A Hilarious Journey to the Lost City”
Introduction: The Adventure Begins
Ever thought about packing your bags, donning your best Indiana Jones hat, and heading off to uncover ancient secrets? Well, if you’re anything like me, you’ve probably considered it but got distracted by Netflix and a comfy couch. However, let’s imagine we actually made it to Machu Picchu, the legendary Lost City of the Incas. Buckle up, because this journey is going to be filled with more twists and turns than a llama on roller skates.
The Origins of Machu Picchu…

The beautiful ancient site of Machu Picchu is one of the most famous places in the world, yet it’s origins are shrouded in uncertainty and the unknown. Please like and subscribe, let me know what you think in the comments section below. Thanks to all those that support this channel, particularly in these strange and trying times. I didn’t mention it in the video, I think we’ll all hearing enough as it is!
Chapter 1: Packing Like a Pro (or Not)
First things first: packing. Now, you might think that preparing for a trek to one of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world requires meticulous planning. And you’d be right, if you’re not me. My packing list looked something like this:
- Sunscreen (because we don’t want to roast like a chicken)
- A hat (Indiana Jones style, of course)
- Snacks (for energy, but mostly because I get cranky without them)
- A camera (to capture the inevitable selfies)
- Comfortable shoes (which I forgot and wore flip-flops instead)
Chapter 2: The Train to Aguas Calientes
After realizing that hiking up to Machu Picchu in flip-flops might not be the best idea, I decided to take the train to Aguas Calientes. Let me tell you, this train ride is more scenic than a postcard from your grandma. Imagine lush green mountains, rivers flowing like they’re late for an appointment, and me trying to take a selfie without falling out of the window. It’s a miracle I survived.
Chapter 3: The Bus Ride of a Lifetime
From Aguas Calientes, you hop on a bus that zigzags up the mountain like it’s being driven by someone who just learned what turns are. As the bus ascends, you get these breathtaking views that make you go “Wow!” followed by “Please don’t let me throw up.” Pro tip: hold onto something or someone, and avoid looking down if you have a thing about heights.
Chapter 4: Arrival at Machu Picchu – Where Llamas Rule
Stepping off the bus and onto the grounds of Machu Picchu is like entering another world. It’s ancient, it’s mystical, and it’s filled with llamas who seem to have an inflated sense of self-importance. These llamas strut around like they own the place, and honestly, who can blame them? If I lived in a stunning mountaintop city, I’d be a diva too.
Chapter 5: The Guided Tour – Fact or Fiction?
Hiring a guide is a smart move because they know the difference between a temple and a pile of rocks. My guide was full of fascinating facts, though I couldn’t help but wonder if he was making some of them up. “This rock here was used by the Incas to predict the weather.” Sure, or maybe it was just a rock, but who am I to argue with history?
Chapter 6: The Classic Photo Op
You know the iconic Machu Picchu photo where it looks like you’re standing on the edge of the world? Yeah, I wanted that. However, standing on a precarious ledge while trying to look serene is harder than it looks. After a few tries, several almost-falls, and a lot of unflattering angles, I finally got the shot. Just ignore the sweat and the sheer terror in my eyes.
Chapter 7: Exploring the Ruins
Wandering through the ruins, I felt like a kid in a candy store – if the candy store was ancient, made of stone, and had no candy. The architecture is mind-blowing, with terraces, temples, and stairs that seem to lead to nowhere. Every corner you turn, there’s something awe-inspiring, or in my case, a place to sit and catch my breath.
Chapter 8: The Hike Up Huayna Picchu
For the adventurous souls, there’s Huayna Picchu, the mountain you see in the background of all those famous Machu Picchu photos. Climbing it is a bit like starring in your own personal survival show. The path is steep, the steps are tiny, and there’s a real risk of seeing your life flash before your eyes. But hey, the view from the top is worth every drop of sweat and every muttered curse.
Conclusion: The Journey Back
After a day of exploring, hiking, and trying not to get spat on by a llama, it’s time to head back. The journey back to civilization is bittersweet. You’re tired, your legs feel like jelly, but your heart is full of epic memories. Machu Picchu is a place like no other, and despite the humorous mishaps and challenges, it’s an adventure worth every moment.
So, when are you booking your trip? Just remember to pack proper shoes and maybe a llama whisperer.
